1/31/2024 0 Comments Liveview pro reviewI'll probably post another few updates as to whether I find that the video is helping me make actual progress toward my swing goals. If anyone else is interested in this setup, and you have questions, feel free to ask. This doesn't seem to me to be an insurmountable problem, but it's worth noting. But for face-on video, it isn't mirrored, so everything looks backwards. This is perfect for down-the-line video when you look at the screen, everything makes sense. The app also shows the video exactly as it's recorded. It would be great to be able to draw lines on the video as reference points when I'm swinging. The tablet app doesn't support any kind of mark up on the screen. That's not something that LVG, being a single-purpose device, would do. In addition, I can use the camera for other things for instance, I'm hoping to get a drone with a GoPro mount to take video footage. I already had a tablet, and the camera cost me far less than half of what the Live View Golf camera would. ![]() The basic functionality is exactly what I hoped it would be. If I keep the club shallower, I don't need to stand up to save the swing.Īs for the setup: it works. These are related in my swing if I can flatten my lead wrist at the top of my backswing, I'll keep the club shallower through transition. My goal for the camera initially is to allow me to work on my 1) wrist angles and 2) early extension. There's a fraction of a delay, but nothing that ruins its usefulness at all. I can set the tablet direct in front of me the camera app supports landscape mode, so everything is properly oriented. It's worth noting that the GoPro style cameras offer roughly a billion different accessories for mounting the cameras on things, so there's bound to be something that works for whatever setup you have in mind.Īnd then I picked up this cheap case for my tablet, which has a little kickstand in the back: I already had one of these little tripods sitting around, which is perfect for my purpose here. Once you connect the camera and tablet, just as I hoped, it allows you to stream the video from the camera to the tablet in real time. I got the camera and downloaded the corresponding app to my Android tablet. The camera itself has only a single button, but the back is an excellent touchscreen: The biggest difference is that the cheaper model doesn't record in 240fps, which I really wanted for slow motion swing analysis. My hunch is that it would function the same for this purpose as the one I bought. It's worth noting that Yi has a couple other models, some even cheaper, like this one, which with the coupon available now on Amazon is only $45. So I picked up a used version of this Yi 4K Action Camera from eBay. The most popular are the GoPro line of cameras, but again, they are pricey. Insert the action camera! Some of you, no doubt are familiar with these. So I wanted to see if I could replicate its functionality on a budget. This is even better than mirror work, because (and I trust we've all done this) you don't have to change your head position to see the video that's directly in front of you.Īs with many golf gadgets, though, Live View carries a non-trivial price tag. ![]() You can set your tablet directly in front of you, and you can see your swing in real time. What Live View does, then, is give you a camera that you can set up on the range that connects wirelessly to your tablet. Video with a coach can be very useful, but what if you 1) don't have a coach or 2) are just working on something on your own time? ![]() Set up the camera (hoping you've got it framed correctly), start the camera, swing, run back to the camera, play it back (typically on a tiny screen), see if you did the swing thing you were hoping to do. But if you've ever tried to work with video on your own, you know it can be a real pain. The basic idea is simple: video is a proven help in making swing changes. Still looks like a nice product for the right market.I suspect that some of you have already seen this product: 800w max (assuming you can draw that through one 's not clear) is not going to run a whole host of things. It's for running devices, some lights, and MAYBE an appliance. I also don't have smartphone integration.Īs the review notes, this isn't for powering most of your house. The ports are similar, though mine doesn't have USB-C, which is a big negative. For two, 5aH batteries and the unit, I paid $800. However, I already have a number of the batteries from the lawn tools. It can accept up to 40ah of battery (10 each), which is at about 50v (so 20aH for 110). I compare it to my 3000w EGO power station, and it's hard to justify. The price isn't bad, though it's not modular and doesn't have removable batteries (as most don't). We need to know the amp hours equivalent at various voltages.Īt 5v, it's about 150. 768wh is irrelevant and designed to mask true capacity.
